The Missouri Precinct Project (MOPP) is a grassroots organization dedicated to help educate and motivate Missouri conservatives to become more involved in the political process. Its goal is to become “the clearing house for interested individuals across the state to work on increasing voter participation and voter turnout.” MOPP volunteers walk their neighborhood/precinct and identify conservative individuals, encourage voter registration and voting, and educate voters on candidates, ballot issues. According to MOPP, “…in the 2010 election…1.8 million Missourians voted out of a total registered voting population of 4.1 million, or 44%.”
Another goal of MOPP “is to have conservative individuals running for Committeemen and women in their respective Townships across the state. These are the individuals that form the party structure that determines the candidates for local and statewide offices.”
For more information on MOPP, or to get involved, visit the Missouri Precinct Project online or email State Coordinator Judy Sofka at missouriprecinctproject@gmail.com, email subject: MOPP. You can also join their group Missouri Precinct Project (MOPP) on Facebook.

Some 120 Republican women and guests attended the thirteenth Women of Tribute Recognition Luncheon held at the Courtyard Marriott in Columbia, Missouri, on Saturday, August 27. The event was hosted by the Missouri Federation of Republican Women (MoFRW).
LaRue Lemons from Dade County was named the 2011 state honoree. In addition, twenty seven women demonstrating active involvement in various Republican clubs throughout the state were honored.
Donna Spickert, former president and current member of the Boone County Federated Republican Women’s Club, was among the honorees. Spickert has been involved with the Republican Party in Boone County since 1994. She ran for State Representative in 1996 and 1998. She has served on gubernatorial, congressional and U.S. Senatorial campaigns for several Missouri Republicans: Kenny Hulshof (U.S. Congress – 1994; Governor - 2008), John Ashcroft (U.S. Senate - 2000), Jim Talent (U.S. Senate - 2002) and Vicky Hartzler (U.S. Congress – 2010). She has served as Special Assistant to Senator John Ashcroft, State Director for U.S. Senator Jim Talent, Director of “Women for Hulshof” (Kenny Hulshof for Governor). Spickert currently serves as the District Director for Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4).
As an honoree, Spickert was presented a medallion, certificate and red rose.
“Those being honored today are wonderful examples of what our Missouri Federation of Republican women stands for,” said Kathy Drake, MoFRW President. “Each one has shared a part of their life for their beliefs and the passion they have for our Country. They have given of themselves to promote our Republican values and the mission of the MoFRW and the National Federation. We salute all of the honorees for their unending dedication and the contributions they have made to make America the best. By their leadership they have paved the road for our members to follow,” she said.
Former U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg Ann Wagner, a past state Women of Tribute honoree (2001) and current candidate for Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District, served as the luncheon’s keynote speaker.

Dear Friends:
The results are in. Three seats were open on the Columbia School Board and I came in fourth with 3,033 votes.
Throughout our district and beyond, the positive response to our "Christian. Conservative. Committed" message was overwhelming. You contributed generously, collected contributions on my behalf, went door-to-door, displayed yard signs, wrote and forwarded emails, "Facebooked" and "Tweeted," called friends, passed out literature, personally wrote me kind messages of support, and prayed for the Lord to guide me and give me wisdom and strength throughout the campaign.
We worked hard. We played fair. We ran a clean campaign. We have no regrets and we walk away with our integrity into the future that the Lord has planned for each of us.
I am so very thankful and humbled by your care, concern and amazing support.
In the classic movie "It's a Wonderful Life," Clarence reminded George Bailey "...remember no man is a failure who has friends." I thank you for being my friends.
May the Lord bless you for your efforts! I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

The event was held at The Lodge at Rothwell Park in Moberly, Missouri. Speakers included former Missouri Senator John Loudon (MO-7), Former Missouri Representative Ed Emery (MO-126), Ron Calzone (a director for Missouri First, Inc.), Representative Paul Curtman (MO-105) and Mitch Hubbard.
Loudon spoke about Right to Work legislation. More information can be found at "Missourians for the Right to Work" on Facebook or @mojobsnow on Twitter.
Emery spoke of the importance that our young people be educated about America and its Christian heritage. He spoke of the importance of moral absolutes and said we need to regain knowledge, purpose and the vision that birthed our nation. "Knowledge of the truth is the friend of liberty," he said and listed ignorance, ambition and arrogance as enemies of liberty.
In the Missouri legislature, he mentioned three areas of concern: 1) Expanded use of omnibus bills, 2) Pre-selection of the Speaker of the Missouri House and 3) Overly powerful rules committee. He also spoke of the importance that not everyone can be a citizen activist, but we all can vote, encourage others to vote and in primary elections defend our principles and refine our party.
Calzone gave a presentation on the history of our nation - "our nation is a Constitutional republic."
He centered his presentation around two basic principles: 1) All political power originates from and resides in the people, and 2) The power of the people is constrained by the rule of organic law (our Constitution).
Hubbard spoke about nullification legislation in the Missouri legislature (Missouri opting out of Federal legislation that is considered un-Constitutional).
Curtman emphasized the principle of individual sovereignty as embraced by our Founding Fathers. He charged attendees to "be as involved as we can possibly be" in our government as "freedom is not free."
There will be a patriot group meeting at the Randolph County Courthouse, Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 9:00-11:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend. This is a newly formed group that is organizing to educate and rally Christian citizen involvement in government. A name for the group will soon be decided.
